If you have a query that's not listed here, email or text us and we'll get back to you with an answer the same day. We might even post the question here, as long as you're not requesting the recipe for our famous meatloaf - that recipe remains locked away in our maximum security bread bin.
We always tell it straight, albeit in a round-about way, because we have nothing to hide, unless we're not comfortable answering certain questions.
Small Print: All answers are 100% truthful, 80% of the time.

Do the meals come frozen?
Eat fresh is fresh! The meals are cooked then blasted cold to retain the flavour and freshness. These are then served out into individual meals, the oxygen is removed by the vac and sealed providing freshness for up to 14 days from cook date in your fridge... by the time you get it ,... its about 10days!
Eatlite is 100% FROZEN goodness - The meals are cooked then blasted cold to retain the flavour and freshness. Plated up, Blasted frozen then sealed... We did alot of testing to find the best way to maintain the quality of the dish through frozen. The testing paid off and we have managed to produce an amazing quality on reheat. It is how France and the rest of Europe do it.. Germany is about quality and precision (look at their cars) and the French have fabulous food... so it works for us!
Note: 5+5 deal is fresh meals and frozen soup (unless its eatlite - then its ALL frozen), frozen meal deals... are (you guessed it) frozen.
What is in the Frozen meal deal:
Great value thats what! Seriously.. its a random selection from menus gone by.. but is not a whole lot of rubbish meals that no one wanted... It is just that when we planned the cook our eyes were bigger than our stomachs... there are roasts, chicken dishes, pork dishes, beef dishes... etc.. It's a real mixture. We promise you that it's not a box of pasta!
Is your pork 'Free range'
Is the pork dish $15.00... No! Right then it is probably not free range!
Can I freeze the meals?
Yes you can but the idea is that you don’t have to. Upon receiving your meals you should place these in the fridge.
If I don’t manage to eat all the meals I have purchased in a week can I place them in the freezer?
We think it is impossible that you have managed to resist the temptation of the delectable treats we have supplied you. Clearly you have not opened your fridge or are fasting? If this is the case you can freeze your meals however you should consume these within 6 months of the cook date.
How do I reheat them from frozen?
We highly recommend that you thaw your meal first! Then it's 4 minutes in the microwave or 15 minutes in the oven.
When will I receive my meals?
Delivery will depend on when you have ordered. Please see below for the delivery schedule for your area.
WELLINGTON - NON CHILLED - This is delivered on set days by our chilled truck. Will be delivered in a plastic bag and it is our recommendation that you are either home on the given day to receive or you leave an adequate insulated box for it to be placed in upon delivery from our EAT driver.

What courier do you use and what time will the courier get here?
We use Courier post as of 07/11/2011. What time will the courier get there? It depends on their run, traffic, day, and where you are. We can't tell you what time... only what day. Once we part with your box and wave it goodbye from our kitchen window... we will never see that box again. It is out of our hands and in the trusted hands of the courier. We are lovely to our couriers and if you are going to be a regular it will pay for you to be lovely to them too. You look after them and they will look after you. South Island delivery Rural delivery areas
When it comes to delivery... that little stretch of ocean is expensive! All south Island freight is Air Freighted for next day delivery. The cost of delivery is $20.00.
Rural delivery
We are unable to deliver to Rural areas. An alternative would be to have your food delivered to a work address or a relatives address or a Post shop. If you live in the peace and serenity of this countrys beautiful wide green pastures or just live in a cute little town well away from the hustle and fumes of the big smoke... and you are not sure... give us a call and we will contact our courier company whilst you are on the line and find out.
Can I collect my meals?
Yes. However you should probably live in Wellington for this to be possible! You can collect meals Tuesday - Friday, 10am - 4pm. Please note we are an office and phone ordering and delivery is the business... so if the phone is ringing .. we will answer it and you may have to wait precious moments before we ladies can run out to the kitchen to get your meals.
Address:
Ground floor YMCA Building
Pilmuir House
67 Pilmuir Street
Lower Hutt.
Where are you based?
Wellington but we deliver though out the country.
How do you get meals from Wellington to Auckland, Whangarei…?
Your meals will arrive packaged in a polystyrene chill box packed with ice packs and paper. This box will ensure your meals retain a cold temperature within the insulated box. Should you receive your meals and they are not chilled – please contact us immediately.
Is there a delivery fee?
Yes. The fee is $11.00 within the North Island or $20 for the South Island. All south Island orders must select the South Island delivery option.. otherwise we could spend all day looking for Nelson in the North island! .
Saturday deliveries incur an additional $6.00 fee. Note our courier only operates on a Saturday in some areas - So please call us if a Saturday delivery is what you would like.
What if I only want to order 1 meal?
You are more than welcome to do this but it will be a fairly expensive meal as the delivery fee still applies.
Is there a minimum order?
No. You can order as little as you like or as much as you like. Most people order between 5-7 meals each week. There is a maximum of 14 items in a box. If you order over this amount by including a 'Meal deal' we may contact you for an additional delivery fee. Sorry but we already subsidise delivery and can't afford to offer a discount and send it to you for free!
Do I have to order the whole menu?
No … but you should! You may order what you like. Anything from 1 meal to 14 roasts… as long as it is on that weeks menu.
Can I order in advance?
Yes you can – just click on the week you want to order for and the menu will appear on the online ordering.
I want to send my friend some meals but I don’t know what they would like?
They will probably like everything but we know what you mean… send them a gift voucher.. call us on 0800 328 333 and we can tell you all about it.
I can't eat calories. Do you have calorie free meals?
We have tried to eliminate calories from our meals but they are very popular with most customers. We recommend that if you don’t like calories just pick out the ones you don’t want and leave them on the plate.
Heat and eat... Sounds like meals on wheels.
If it is then it is the Ultimate meals on wheels. It is proper food, delivered fresh or frozen and only heated when you want it. It tastes like you just graduated from culinary school and cooked it yourself. as opposed to luke warm, sitting around all day and each meal tasting the same... you know there is a problem when you cant work out if you are eating chicken or pork!??!
How big are the meals?
All meals are in excess of 400 grams. A decent serving by any means... However if you are extra hungry or there are two of you (with the appetite of a sparrow....) you can upsize any main meal for $1.50 and you will get in excess of 500 grams or there are the lunch pots but these are pretty big too.
This is amazing... and your special deals are awesome.. how can I find out about them!
We are on facebook and if you click on us there you will be notified of any specials as they come about.
This internet thing is new to me and getting to this page took 3 hours... is there another way to order?
Yes.. You can call us on 0800 328 333 and we can take your order over the phone. We promise it wont take long unless you want to gossip and then we are all up for that!
How do I know my credit card details are secure here?
When you purchase by credit card the website directs you to Westpac processing to take your details. The only thing our system retain is your name, address, phone and what your eating... the rest is secure in the banking system. Once your purchase is approved...you will be brought back to the eat website. Your order needs to come back for it to be confirmed and for both of us to receive notification of your order.
I would like to pay by bank transfer - what are your bank details?
If you order on line you will get a confirmation back with your reference number and instructions on making payment including our bank details. But... if this confirmation is lost in cyber space then look no further...

Important: please include your name or at the very least your order reference or invoice number... if we have no way of identifying your payment we just assume its a tip (joking)! But it does make it very difficult for us to match up and find payment.
I placed an order but didnt get an email.. what are you talking about?
Hmmm the order might be lost in cyber space. The really important thing is that if you didnt get confirmation then there is a 99% chance we didn't either! Call us on 0800 328 333 and we will work it out.
POLYSTYRENE BOXES -Arghhhh
We would love to get them back but in previous recycling trials they have only come back damaged and dirty - you wouldn't want your meals delivered in a dirty box!
Things you can do with them…
Storage: Use them to store photos or special fragile treasures… they are solid and padded… bugs and moths can’t get into it either…Use them to keep open packets of food in your pantry. It will protect them from dust, ants etc… and keep things fresher longer. Use them to store kid’s toys like Lego and little cars etc…
Outside/ Inside: Poke a few holes in the bottom and pop in some soil… use them to plant little seedlings. Grow salad to accompany your meal
Sell them: Save you boxes… when you have 5-10… Register yourself on www.trademe.co.nz and list your item. If you need to know the size and type of box you have… give us a call.
Give them away: Food banks often move food around and these boxes come in handy… Call your local Salvation Army, food bank, meals on wheels or hang out at the dock’s fisherman love them! Your local dairy might have use for them… great for carting frozen from the cash and carry to fill their shop.
Recycle: Look up polystyrene manufacturers near you and see if they will take them. They generally have a recycling programme and turn old boxes into slabs for under floor insulation. Here is who we use:

Throw out in the rubbish: Seems like a waste… but they are big and bulky and if you or no one you know has a use for them then throw them out. But DON’T try to put them in the curbside recycling… at best they won’t take it… at worst they do and it breaks up in the truck ruining all the recyclable material. Very bad!
